Fire at the Jizan Bulk Plant, Saudi Red Sea coast, 8 September 2026
Saudi Aramco Jizan Bulk Plant, corner of King Fahd Road and King Abdullah Road, Jizan — a Red Sea coastal tank farm (9 large, 8 mid-size and 2 small tanks)
Snapshots are curated, event-dated observations from open satellite data. They document specific events; they are not the systematic instrument records above. Every image carries its provenance in-frame.

Caption
Sentinel-2 shortwave-infrared imagery of the Saudi Aramco Jizan Bulk Plant on the Red Sea coast at Jizan. On 8 September, news reports and the Saudi-led coalition described strikes and fires at southern Saudi oil facilities; this imagery corroborates the occurrence and localises one to this facility — on the 6 September overpass the tank farm shows no hot source, and on the 8 September overpass, 07:30 UTC, shortwave-infrared registers combustion at the plant with a smoke plume drifting north-west across the sea. Colours are shortwave-infrared false colour (R:B12 G:B08 B:B04), each frame stretched independently. Imagery: Copernicus Sentinel-2 (open data) via Microsoft Planetary Computer, rendered by NewsplanetAI.
Claim boundary
The corroboration is of the occurrence, not the cause: band 12 saturates on high-temperature combustion, so the marked hot source is a fire present on the 8 September overpass and absent two days before — the imagery shows a fire happened here, not what set it. Each frame is a single instant; detail below the 10-metre pixel is not resolved.
Corrections & updates
2026-09-10 — Title reworded (the original named the satellite overpass); the observation and claim boundary are unchanged.
